Amazon has unveiled its 2026 Christmas advertising campaign, Joy Delivered, telling the story of a young woman determined to make it home for the festive season.

The 60-second film follows Joy, played by New Zealand actress Kate Laidler, whose journey home is thrown into disarray when severe weather cancels her flight on Christmas Eve.

Refusing to give up on seeing her family, Joy sets off on an unexpected adventure, relying on the kindness of strangers to help her reach her destination.

Along the way, she encounters a series of characters who offer her lifts and shelter. In return, she gives each of them one of the Amazon parcels she had originally packed as presents for her family.

By the time Joy finally makes it home, she has given away almost all her gifts, with only one remaining for her mother.

The advert concludes with an emotional reunion, reinforcing the campaign’s central message that the most meaningful part of Christmas is spending time with loved ones.

Soundtracked by a bespoke rendition of The Beatles’ Golden Slumbers, the film takes a more emotional approach to Amazon’s festive marketing, placing human connection and generosity ahead of a traditional product showcase.

The advert was filmed in New Zealand and directed by three-time Emmy nominee Mark Molloy. It was produced by Amazon’s in-house creative team in partnership with production company Smuggler, with costumes designed by Oscar-nominated designer Malgosia Turzanska.

The campaign will run in 30-second, 60-second and 90-second formats across television, streaming, cinema, online video and social media until the end of December.

The UK television debut takes place on 6 November.

The campaign also highlights Amazon’s role in helping customers prepare for Christmas through its gift selection and delivery services, with the retailer positioning convenience as a way for shoppers to spend more time focusing on the people who matter.

Amazon is reportedly set to recruit more than 300,000 additional workers ahead of the Christmas trading period, marking its first increase in seasonal hiring in three years.
